Legal & privacy

Privacy information, terms, cookies, and contact details for the Origin Aion community sites.

Privacy notice

How these sites handle information

Effective date: 18 August 2026

This notice covers Origin Codex, Origin Wiki, the Gear Calculator, Translator, Enchantment Calculator, Stigma Calculator, and this legal site.

Who operates these sites

The sites are maintained by volunteers under the Origin Aion community project name. They are free community tools and guides rather than a storefront, subscription service, or account-based product. For privacy questions, rights requests, or complaints about site content, contact the Origin Aion privacy contact role through the official Origin Aion Discord server, the project’s public contact channel. Mark a message as a privacy request so it can be routed appropriately.

Information processed

Purposes and legal bases

Security, hosting, debugging, and aggregate Codex analytics are based on the project’s legitimate interests in operating and improving a safe service. Functional local preferences and Gear sharing are used only to provide the feature requested by the visitor. Requests to display Wiki thumbnails or follow YouTube and Discord links are treated as part of displaying or following visitor-requested content; the relevant third party separately handles the network request under its own notice. The Translator keeps entered text in the browser and does not send it to an Origin Aion backend. No listed processing is used for advertising or sale of personal data.

Service providers

The sites use hosting and delivery services from Vercel, Vercel Web Analytics on Origin Codex, Upstash Redis for Gear share links, and Google Fonts. The Wiki may request YouTube thumbnails when relevant articles are displayed; YouTube and Discord are also contacted when a visitor follows related links. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices and may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where a provider transfers data outside the EEA, the project relies on that provider’s published transfer safeguards, such as an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses, or another legally recognised mechanism where applicable.

Retention

Browser storage remains until the visitor clears it or the browser removes it. Gear share records expire automatically after one year. Technical logs and analytics are retained by the relevant hosting or analytics provider under that provider’s configuration and policies; the project does not control all provider-side log retention. Project-controlled data is kept only for as long as needed for the feature, security, troubleshooting, and aggregate reporting.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or information about processing, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Send requests through the official Discord contact above; include the relevant site and enough detail to locate the information, and the project may ask for reasonable verification. Requests are handled within the time limits required by applicable law. Gear share records expire automatically after one year; because they are not tied to user accounts, an early deletion request may not always be identifiable or technically possible. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority; in the Czech Republic, this is the Office for Personal Data Protection.

Security and changes

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect the services. This notice may be updated when the sites, providers, or applicable requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.

Cookies & device storage

Current technologies

The current sites do not intentionally use advertising cookies or marketing trackers. Origin Codex uses Vercel Web Analytics, which is designed not to use third-party cookies. Google Fonts does not set cookies, but loading fonts sends a browser request to Google. Wiki YouTube thumbnail requests may disclose normal network data such as an IP address to YouTube. The sites may also use browser localStorage for functional preferences and saved Gear Calculator loadouts.

Functional device storage is used to provide the feature selected by the visitor. If non-essential cookies, advertising, embedded social media, or consent-based analytics are added later, the sites must be updated and consent must be obtained before those technologies load where required by law.

Terms of use

Using the Origin Aion sites

These free community tools and guides are provided for personal, informational, and gameplay-planning use. Calculations, drop data, guides, translations, schedules, and other content may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Use your own judgment and verify important information in-game.

The services are provided without a guarantee of accuracy, availability, continuity, or suitability for a particular purpose. The operator may change, suspend, or remove content and features at any time.

The sites are an independent community project and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NCSoft, Aion, or their respective publishers and rights holders. Aion names, game assets, trademarks, and third-party materials belong to their respective owners.

Do not abuse the services, attempt unauthorized access, overload the share endpoint, submit unlawful material, or include personal or sensitive information in Gear loadout names or share data. Shared Gear links are bearer links: anyone who receives one may be able to read the associated build until it expires.

Questions, correction requests, copyright concerns, and reports of abuse can be sent through the official Origin Aion Discord server. Content may be removed or corrected when appropriate.
